Governor Braun’s Decision Safeguards Indiana Health Centers and the Patients They Serve

GREENWOOD, IN April 23, 2026 — Indiana’s community health centers are encouraged by Governor Mike Braun’s decision to exempt Federally Qualified Health Centers from the proposed 340B Medicaid changes. The action helps preserve critical resources that support access to care for patients and families across the state.

This decision helps ensure health centers can continue delivering essential services, including primary care, behavioral health, dental care, pharmacy services, and other supports that many Indiana residents depend on every day. It also reflects an understanding of the importance of protecting healthcare access for vulnerable populations and strengthening the local organizations that serve them.

Health center leaders across Indiana are also grateful for the thoughtful consideration shown by the Governor’s administration throughout the process. By listening to concerns from providers, advocates, and community stakeholders, state leaders helped reach an outcome that supports both patients and the long-term stability of Indiana’s health centers.

The result was strengthened by advocacy from health center teams, patients, board members, community partners, and legislators who made clear how important 340B support is to maintaining care in communities throughout Indiana.

“Governor Braun’s decision is an important step in protecting access to care for the patients and families who depend on community health centers every day. At WindRose Health Network, the 340B program helps us extend care farther into the communities we serve by supporting affordable medications and essential health services. We are grateful for leadership that recognized the real impact these proposed changes could have had on local health centers and the Hoosiers who rely on them,” said Chief Executive Officer, Scott Rollett.
