Background
- The Trafalgar Family Health Center was founded as a Rural Health Center in 1996 with assistance from Johnson Memorial Hospital and the Indiana State Department of Health. Its goal was to serve as an access point for medical care for the people of Southern Johnson County.
- The Edinburgh Family Health Center was added in 2002 to serve as a second access point for the economically depressed area surrounding the town of Edinburgh.
- In December of 2003, the Health Centers were awarded a 330 Grant from the Bureau of Primary Health Care and officially became a Federally Qualified Health Center, serving Bartholomew, Brown, Johnson, Marion, Morgan and Shelby Counties.
- In September of 2006, with assistance from Columbus Regional Hospital and the Community Center of Hope, the WindRose Health Network opened a third access point in the town of Hope.
- In September of 2008, with assistance from Community Hospitals of Indiana and Adult & Child, the WHN opened Countyline FHC, its largest and most diverse Health Center, on the South Side of Indianapolis.
- In March of 2011, with a grant from the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and assistance from the US Dept. of Agriculture, WHN opened a new state-of-the-art 6,500 sq ft Health Center in the town of Hope, Indiana, creating the town’s first permanent Health Center.
- In February of 2012, in conjunction with Adult & child, WHN opened the Heartfelt Health Alliance---a specialty clinic designed to provide comprehensive and wholistic medicine to seriously mentally ill patients.
- In February of 2012, WHN opened Countyline Kids---an expansion of the Countyline FHC which is dedicated to caring specifically for newborns, children and adolescents.
